Whale And Dolphin Watching
Los Gigantes about 30 miles north of here on the west coast, famous for whale and dolphin watching as well as scuba diving. Travelled up by bus (€7.50 each return from Los Christanos) a gem of a place, highly recommended for day trips. Its a much greener place with a lot to offer, beautiful sheltered streets, fantastic cliffs overlooking the harbour and best of all outdoor seawater swimming pool which is open to the public. You can stay by this pool for the day at a cost of €3.50 which includes sunbed hire. Umbrellas extra, restaurant on site, fab views of the soaring cliffs. Worth noting, there is also an area beside the pool where the sea actually comes in and is safely closed off for swimmers who want to swim in the sea.
Wind And Kite Surfing
Located on Tenerife's south east coast, just a few kilometres from the south airport, El Médano is the island's 'coolest' resort; Tenerife's kite boarding and wind surfing capital. Golden sand stretching as far as the eye can see to a mountainous horizon shimmering in the heat haze. Translucent turquoise waters kissing the patterned sand and breaking into a dozen shades of blue in the sunlight. Pavement cafes serving cold beers and vanilla ice creams to suntanned people who are watching the kite boarders and wind surfers put on their acrobatic ballet.

MountTeide Natinal Park is home toscenery and species that cannot be seen anywhere else in the world, such as the Mount Teide Violet or the Tajinaste. At the foot of the volcano lies the Valley of Ucanca, a stunning lunar desert - although amazingly on Earth! A cable car will take you up to the summit, just 200 Metres from the peak - permits are required to go right to the top, which can be obtained from the offices of the National Park in Santa Cruz de Tenerife.

Teno Rural Park
Natural area located in the north of Tenerife. The Teno Rural Park is one of the most beautiful areas on Tenerife. This park, traditionally isolated due to its limited and difficult access, with its mountainous massif in the north-west of Tenerife is of great ecological value, both scenic and cultural: it includes many examples of traditional island architecture. Large areas of laurisilva forest still survive here, a type of rich leafy forest vegetation, and are the home of many species of animals, such as, the Osprey. It is precisely its rich birdlife that has led to its being declared a protected area for birds. From the Punta de Teno, the most westerly point of the island, which is marked by an old lighthouse, there are spectacular panoramic views of Los Gigantes Cliffs, which drop straight down to the sea from a height of almost 600 metres and are one of Santiago Del Teide's national treasures.
